Essential Oils are liquids distilled from plants (including seeds, bark, leaves, stems flowers, etc.). The inhaled aromas from these oils are believed to stimulate the brain; essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin. The application of these oils is called Aromatherapy. Aromatherapy with essential oils can aid in pain relief, mood enhancement, increased energy, and increased cognitive function. Each essential oil has its own healing properties. In this class, we will sample a few basic essential oils (i.e., lavender, peppermint, lemon, and frankincense), learn their historical use, physical benefits, and how to apply them safely.
