Chinese Ink Painting uses various concentrations of black ink and water to create brushwork images. Artist PJ Zhang gives this traditional Chinese art, known for its elegance and simplicity, a dynamic contemporary interpretation. After some basic instruction, students will experiment with varied qualities of ink (thick, dry, light, etc.) to create nature-themed images such as mountains, flowers, bamboo, birds and fish. Contemporary artist PJ Zhang, born in Shanghai, is a calligrapher, ink painter, art critic, author, and art teacher who has been studying and working in Europe, NYC and Shanghai for the past 30 years.
